Freemason's good or evil?

Over the years I have herd that many of our founding fathers were Freemasons and many of them also belonged to the Skull and Crossbones fraternity. I’m not looking for a bunch of propaganda or reasons to hate our government, but a real unbiased view of their role in governing the populist. Is it good or bad?
