In 2005.......HW HELP!!!!!?

IN 2005, a South Korea Scientist reported that he made immortal stem cells, which drew a worldwide attention. His breakthrough research was published in a reputed journal. Later, it has been proved that the Korean scientist falsified the data and the publication was retracted. Does this incident show that the results of scientific studies cannot be trusted? Alternatively, does it confirms the usefulness of scientific approach to find out the weakness of the data? Justify your opinion with respect to scientific methods.
