How to protect my home from profanity?

Ive had enough of the amount of profanity and language that comes though the TV in our living room. Its a bad influence to the kids and makes me sick just listening to it. Every time we rent a movie, the amount of swearing increases beyond belief. Ive been looking for a TV Guardian to plug into our plasma tv, but im just too unfamiliar with this kind of stuff. Help?
