A milkman adds a very small amount of baking soda to fresh milk. What happens to its pH?

Milk is basic and when a base is added its pH would obviously increase. And how can lactic acid be formed ?(as you say) The answer is just that the pH increases. Such questions are many a times asked and many students get confused !!!
